I still don’t know what magazine this article came from, but I found what appears to be the rest of the article itself:
I found these pictures here:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Also, sorry if the pictures look kinda blurry. Kinja seems to be having trouble with them for some reason, though when I go to edit this post the pictures look much clearer. If you want to try to read it, you could try opening the pictures on the original website where I found them and then opening those pictures in their own tabs, which is what seems to work best for me.

Those are some great pics. Too bad I didn't know about this thing in '96. Alas, 12 year old me was too busy playing PlayStation.

Nope, two *different* articles. One by Dave Ferro, one by Jim Cappisano.

This was owned by a guy and his 21 year old son from 1983-1998. This thread has a ton of fun information and history from two previous owners:

Huh. Well, I’ve been working on squinting at the clearest versions of Dave Ferro’s article that I can get and copying it down into a Word document so that a more easily readable and less blurry version of the article exists. I’ll post it here when I’m finished.

I’ve seen Superbird and Daytona clones made into converts; this is an interesting twist on that theme.
